As a plastic surgeon who sees many prominent ear patients, I know how important the ears are for the patients seeking  otoplasty.

Unlike most other areas of plastic surgery, prominent ear disorder is present in childhood. This may lead to the development of awareness of the ear at a very early age. Whether it is due to the family’s disregard for this situation, concerns about the surgery process, or financial reasons, ears become an important issue for people who missed the chance to have surgery in childhood. Although I rarely have patients who are comfortable with their prominent ear but still want surgery, I often observe ear-related, hiding and avoidance behaviors in my patients who apply for surgery.
